The Jammu & Kashmir government has approved ₹5.78 crore for the restoration of the historic Lah Wali Bowli in Rajouri, a site known for its architectural heritage and cultural significance.

The state government of Jammu & Kashmir has sanctioned a total of ₹5.78 crore for the restoration of the historic Lah Wali Bowli located in the town of Rajouri. The decision was announced by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture during a press briefing held in Srinagar.

Lah Wali Bowli, a centuries‑old water reservoir, is an emblem of the region’s architectural heritage and has long been a focal point for local tourism. Its restoration aims to preserve the structure’s original design while improving its functionality for visitors.

The allocated funds will cover structural repairs, waterproofing, and the installation of modern safety features. A detailed project plan has been drafted, with work expected to begin in the coming months and to be completed within 18 months.

Officials say the project will not only safeguard a cultural landmark but also boost tourism in Rajouri, creating employment opportunities for the local community.
