The Chief Minister inspected winter preparedness across Jammu and Kashmir, directing agencies to work together on snow removal and to follow power‑curtailment schedules strictly.
The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir undertook a state‑wide review of winter preparedness, concentrating on districts that regularly face heavy snowfall. He met with officials from the disaster management authority, municipal corporations and the power department to assess readiness ahead of the peak cold season.
During the briefing, the CM instructed all concerned agencies to coordinate their snow‑clearance activities, ensuring that major highways, mountain passes and local roads remain open for commuters and emergency services. He stressed that any delay or lack of synchronization could jeopardise safety and disrupt essential supply chains.
A key part of the directive was the strict observance of the pre‑announced power‑curtailment schedule. The minister warned that uncontrolled demand during winter evenings could strain the grid, and urged utility providers to stick to the timetable to avoid outages.
To monitor implementation, officials were asked to submit daily progress reports, highlighting areas where additional manpower, machinery or resources are required. The government also pledged to deploy extra snow‑ploughs and heating equipment to vulnerable locations.
The comprehensive plan aims to minimise travel disruptions, protect businesses and safeguard residents as Jammu and Kashmir moves into the harshest months of the year.
