J&K Aligns GST Act with Centre to Harmonise Tax Regime

The Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to amend the state's Goods and Services Tax Act so that it aligns with the central GST framework. The amendment will bring the state's tax structure in line with national standards, ensuring uniformity in tax rates, thresholds and compliance procedures. By harmonising the GST regime, the government expects to reduce administrative burden on businesses and improve revenue collection efficiency. A spokesperson for the state government said the move will also facilitate smoother interstate trade and attract investment by simplifying the tax environment.
