Jharkhand's Rooftop Solar Scheme Attracts Only 3,463 Participants

The central government’s rooftop solar initiative in Jharkhand has garnered a modest 3,463 enrolments, far below expectations.

The central government’s rooftop solar scheme has seen limited uptake in Jharkhand, with only 3,463 applications received so far, falling short of the target set by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The programme, launched to promote renewable energy and reduce reliance on conventional power sources, offers subsidies and financial incentives for installing solar panels on residential and commercial rooftops.

Officials attribute the low enrolment to a lack of public awareness and logistical challenges in reaching remote areas of the state. The MNRE has announced plans to intensify outreach and streamline the application process.

Despite the modest uptake, the government remains committed to scaling up the program, aiming to meet its renewable energy goals and support sustainable development across Jharkhand.
