Women activists in Jharkhand welcomed the National Commission for Women’s new initiative aimed at increasing awareness and enforcement of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has announced a new campaign to strengthen awareness and implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act across workplaces. Women’s rights groups in Jharkhand expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting the need for better enforcement of the law.
The campaign will include training workshops, informational materials and a helpline to assist victims of workplace harassment. Activists said the program could bridge gaps in knowledge and reporting mechanisms, especially in smaller towns and rural areas.
"We are grateful to NCW for taking concrete steps to protect women’s rights," said a spokesperson for a local women’s association. "This initiative will help ensure that the POSH Act is not just a legal text but a lived reality for all employees."
