The Jharkhand government announced an artificial‑intelligence based portal that will track the flow of medicines across the state, aiming to prevent misuse of prescription drugs.

The state government of Jharkhand said it will roll out an online portal powered by artificial intelligence to monitor the distribution of medicines throughout the region. The system is designed to create a real‑time database of drug supplies, linking manufacturers, distributors and pharmacies.

By analysing transaction data, the AI platform will flag irregular patterns that could indicate diversion or illegal sale of prescription medicines. Officials expect the technology to strengthen regulatory oversight and reduce the illegal resale of controlled drugs.

The initiative, reported by The Times of India, is part of Jharkhand's broader effort to harness digital tools for public health safety. The portal is slated to become operational within the next few months, with training planned for relevant health‑department officials.

If successful, the model could be replicated in other Indian states seeking to curb pharmaceutical misuse while ensuring legitimate patients have uninterrupted access to essential medicines.
