The Jharkhand High Court has sought clarification on why a Bangladeshi citizen remains in custody after completing his court‑mandated sentence.

The Jharkhand High Court has raised concerns over the continued custody of a Bangladeshi national who has already served his full prison term. The bench directed the state prison department and other concerned authorities to explain why the individual remains detained despite the legal expiry of his sentence. The court emphasized that no person should be deprived of liberty beyond the period prescribed by law and indicated that corrective orders may follow if the detention is found to be unlawful.
