Jharkhand Forms New Council to Regulate Allied Health Institutes and Train Workforce

The Jharkhand government has announced the creation of a dedicated council to oversee allied health institutes and to develop a structured training programme for the state's health workforce.
The state of Jharkhand has officially set up a new council tasked with regulating allied health education institutions across the region. The council will function under the health department and will be responsible for granting approvals, monitoring compliance, and ensuring that institutes meet prescribed standards.
In addition to regulatory duties, the council will design and implement a comprehensive training framework aimed at upskilling the allied health workforce. The programme is expected to cover curricula standardisation, skill certification and periodic refresher courses for professionals such as lab technicians, physiotherapists and radiographers.
Officials indicated that the move seeks to address gaps in quality and employability within the sector, thereby improving patient care and creating more reliable job opportunities for graduates. The council is slated to begin operations later this year, with an initial focus on institutions that already offer diploma and degree courses in allied health fields.
