Bihar's Janata Dal (United) has removed MLA Anant Singh from the party, citing his involvement in campaigning for a rival candidate and anti‑party activities.

In a decisive move, the Janata Dal (United) has expelled Anant Singh, the elected representative from Mokama in Bihar, from its ranks. The party cited his alleged participation in promotional activities for a rival party's candidate as the primary reason for the disciplinary action.
Party officials said Singh's actions violated JDU's code of conduct, which forbids members from supporting opposition candidates during elections. The allegations also include involvement in activities deemed hostile to the party's interests.
Nitish Kumar, the chief minister and JDU supremo, confirmed the expulsion in a brief statement, emphasizing that the party cannot tolerate any form of anti‑party behavior from its legislators.
The decision underscores JDU's intent to enforce strict party discipline ahead of upcoming electoral contests, and it may influence the political dynamics in the Mokama constituency.
