India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka after a recent injury, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will miss the Test series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin on June 14.
Bumrah suffered a hamstring strain during the final warm‑up session before the first Test and is expected to require several weeks of rehabilitation.
India’s bowling lineup will now rely on the likes of Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to fill the void left by the star pacer.
BCCI chief executive officer Ranjan Raghavan said the decision was taken after consulting with the medical team and the player’s fitness coach.
The series will still feature a three‑match Test schedule, with the first game at the Galle International Stadium.
