The Tamil film ‘Sigma’, which marks the directorial debut of Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay, opened to mixed reviews and modest earnings on its first day. By the third day of release, the film’s box‑office collection had plateaued, showing no significant uptick in ticket sales.
Industry analysts note that the film’s performance is below expectations, especially given the high anticipation surrounding Jason Sanjay’s entry into direction. The lack of momentum suggests that the movie may not have resonated with the core audience base.
While the film’s cast includes several known actors, the overall reception indicates that star power alone may not guarantee commercial success. The flat earnings could impact the viability of future projects for the young director.
Distributors and exhibitors are closely monitoring the trend, as a continued stagnation could lead to early withdrawals from screens. The film’s producers are reportedly exploring promotional strategies to revive interest.
At present, ‘Sigma’ remains in theatres, but its trajectory points to a challenging run ahead, with stakeholders reassessing marketing and distribution plans.
