The Jammu & Kashmir health authorities have announced heightened monitoring of vector‑borne diseases to curb potential outbreaks.
The Department of Health Services, Jammu & Kashmir (DHSK) has launched an intensified surveillance programme targeting vector‑borne diseases across the union territory. Officials said the move comes in response to seasonal trends that historically see a rise in illnesses such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya during the monsoon months.
Under the new protocol, health teams will conduct regular field inspections, collect real‑time data from hospitals and primary health centres, and coordinate with local municipal bodies to identify breeding sites of disease‑carrying mosquitoes. The department also plans to deploy rapid diagnostic kits in high‑risk districts to ensure early detection.
Public health officials emphasized that community participation is crucial. Awareness campaigns will be rolled out in schools and villages, urging residents to eliminate stagnant water and report any suspected cases promptly. The enhanced surveillance aims to contain any outbreak before it spreads widely, safeguarding public health in the region.
