Jammu & Kashmir Govt Launches Data Strategy Units Across All Departments

✍️ Kashmir Life 🗓 25 Jul 2026, 01:04 PM 👁 3

The Jammu & Kashmir administration has announced the creation of dedicated data strategy units in every department to improve data governance and decision‑making.

The Jammu & Kashmir government today announced the establishment of data strategy units in every departmental office across the state. The move is aimed at centralising data management practices and ensuring that data is used effectively for policy formulation and service delivery.

Each unit will be responsible for collecting, analysing and disseminating data relevant to its specific sector. By standardising data protocols, the administration hopes to reduce duplication, improve transparency and enable evidence‑based decision making.

The units will be headed by senior civil servants with expertise in data analytics and will operate under the guidance of the state’s Chief Information Officer. Implementation is slated to begin in the next fiscal quarter, with a phased rollout plan.

The initiative is part of a broader digital transformation agenda that seeks to modernise government operations and enhance citizen services through better use of information technology.
