The 2027 Census operations in Jammu & Kashmir have finished the District Census Handbook fieldwork, and training for population enumerators is now underway.
The Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner reported that field operations for the District Census Handbook (DCHB) in Jammu & Kashmir have been completed ahead of the 2027 national census schedule. Survey teams visited every village and urban ward in the state, collecting detailed data on housing, amenities and demographic characteristics.
Concurrently, the state’s census authority has launched a comprehensive training programme for enumerators who will conduct the population count. The curriculum covers questionnaire administration, use of digital devices, and protocols for ensuring data quality and confidentiality.
Officials said the timely completion of DCHB fieldwork and the rollout of enumerator training are critical steps to achieve an accurate and on‑time population enumeration across the region.
