Jammu Kashmir has inaugurated its 12th day‑care cancer centre, marking a significant step in the national expansion of oncology services.

The state of Jammu and Kashmir has opened its 12th day‑care cancer centre, a move that strengthens the region’s cancer care infrastructure. The new facility, located in the capital Srinagar, is part of a nationwide network that provides outpatient chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supportive care to patients across India.

The centre is designed to reduce the travel burden on patients who previously had to journey long distances for treatment. It offers a range of services including diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests and patient counselling, all under one roof.

Health officials say the expansion will improve accessibility for patients in remote districts and help meet the growing demand for oncology services. The new centre joins 11 existing facilities in the state, further consolidating Jammu and Kashmir’s position as a leader in cancer care in the country.

The initiative is part of a broader government effort to expand day‑care cancer treatment across the nation, aiming to provide timely, affordable care to millions of patients.
