Punjab’s Jalandhar traffic authorities inspected 26 school buses and issued challans to 14 for violations.
Jalandhar traffic police recently carried out a spot‑check of school transport vehicles operating in the city. The inspection covered a total of 26 school buses that ply on routes used by children.
During the verification, officials found that 14 of the buses did not meet prescribed safety or regulatory standards. Those vehicles were issued challans for the identified violations.
The police spokesperson said the operation is part of a broader effort to enforce compliance and improve safety for schoolchildren. Bus owners have been instructed to rectify the deficiencies and submit proof of compliance within the stipulated period.
No accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the inspection, and the authorities will continue periodic checks to ensure that all school transport adheres to the law.
