Residents of Jalandhar met the local councilor to demand immediate action on a persistent sewerage problem that has caused inconvenience and health concerns.

A group of residents from a Jalandhar neighbourhood gathered with the area councilor to raise complaints about overflowing drains and foul odour that have plagued the locality for weeks. The citizens highlighted that stagnant water and foul sewage have disrupted daily life, created a breeding ground for insects, and raised fears of water‑borne diseases.
The residents presented photographs and videos as evidence, urging the councilor to expedite cleaning, repair broken pipelines and ensure regular maintenance. They also demanded that the municipal corporation allocate additional resources to prevent recurrence during the upcoming monsoon season.
In response, the councilor acknowledged the seriousness of the issue, stating that the ward office had already lodged a work order with the public works department. He promised to monitor progress closely and assured the community that remedial measures would be implemented within the next few days.
Local officials, however, cautioned that the repair work might be delayed due to pending budget approvals and the need to coordinate with multiple agencies. They appealed to residents to cooperate and report any further lapses, emphasizing that sustained community vigilance is essential for effective sanitation management.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both sides to hold a follow‑up review in two weeks to assess the impact of the interventions and to discuss any remaining concerns.
