The state cabinet has approved renaming Jal Nigam to Jal and Sanitation Corporation, granting its Managing Director authority to sanction contracts up to ₹25 crore.
The state government has given the green light to rename the existing Jal Nigam as the Jal and Sanitation Corporation. The decision, announced by the Chief Minister, aims to broaden the agency's mandate to include both water supply and sanitation services.
Under the new structure, the Managing Director will be empowered to approve tenders and contracts valued up to ₹25 crore without seeking higher-level clearance. This move is expected to streamline project execution and reduce bureaucratic delays.
