The government has earmarked ₹30,156 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 to supply drinking water to 90 lakh households within two years, announced by Naidu.
The Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 has been approved with a budget of ₹30,156 crore, a move announced by Naidu during a recent briefing. The new allocation aims to provide safe drinking water to 90 lakh homes across the country within a two‑year period.
Under the scheme, the central government will collaborate with state authorities to install water supply infrastructure, including pipelines, storage tanks and purification units. The plan also includes monitoring mechanisms to ensure continuous supply and quality compliance.
Experts say the initiative will significantly reduce the burden on households that currently rely on unsafe water sources. By improving access to potable water, the mission is expected to enhance public health and reduce water‑borne diseases.
Implementation will begin immediately, with the first phase targeting high‑priority districts. Progress will be reviewed quarterly to keep the project on schedule and within budget.
