By mid‑afternoon, 60.57% of eligible voters had cast their ballots in the ongoing Jaipur panchayat elections, officials said.
The panchayat elections in Jaipur, Rajasthan, reached a 60.57% voter turnout by 3 p.m. today, according to the district election office. The figure reflects the proportion of registered voters who had marked their ballots at polling stations across the city.
Election officials noted that the turnout is higher than the average for similar local body polls in the state, indicating strong public interest in the selection of ward representatives. Polling stations remained open until the scheduled close at 5 p.m., with security and election staff overseeing a smooth voting process.
The results of the election will be compiled after the polls close, and the elected panchayat members are expected to assume office in the coming weeks, taking charge of local governance issues such as sanitation, water supply, and community development.
Authorities have urged the remaining voters to exercise their franchise before the polls close, emphasizing the importance of full participation in grassroots democracy.
The election commission will announce the final turnout and detailed results once counting is completed, providing a transparent view of the democratic exercise in the capital city.
