Traders in Jaipur forecast a Rs 10,000 crore turnover on Dhanteras as shoppers shift to lighter gold jewellery and silver coins.
On Dhanteras, Jaipur's traditional markets are gearing up for a massive surge in sales, with traders estimating a total turnover of around Rs 10,000 crore.
The forecast comes amid persistently high gold prices, prompting shoppers to shift preference toward lighter gold ornaments and silver coins, which are considered more affordable festive gifts.
Market officials said that jewellery stalls across Bapu Bazaar, Johari Bazaar and other commercial hubs are stocking larger quantities of 22‑carat gold pieces and various denominations of silver coins to meet the anticipated demand.
If realised, the expected business volume would surpass previous Dhanteras records in the city, underscoring the continued importance of the festival for Rajasthan's retail sector.
Traders also noted that an influx of tourists from neighboring states adds to the buying frenzy, further boosting the projected revenue.
