In Jaipur's Chaumun police area, a conman claimed to be an STF officer and warned of fake SIM usage linked to the Pulwama attack, extracting ₹2.7 lakh from Santosh Kumar Sikligar. The scam is part of two cyber‑fraud cases totalling ₹5,76,925.

Police in Jaipur's Chaumun police station have reported a cyber‑fraud where the perpetrator introduced himself as an officer of the Special Task Force (STF). He warned the victim that using counterfeit SIM cards could be linked to the Pulwama terror attack, creating a sense of urgency and fear.

The fraudster approached Santosh Kumar Sikligar, claiming that immediate action was required to avoid legal trouble. Trusting the false authority, Sikligar handed over ₹2.7 lakh, believing it would resolve the alleged issue.

Investigators say this incident is one of two related scams uncovered in the city, with the combined loss amounting to ₹5,76,925. The police have launched a cyber‑crime probe and are urging citizens to verify the identity of officials before making any payments.

Authorities have reminded the public that STF officers do not solicit money over the phone and that legitimate investigations are conducted through official channels. Anyone approached with similar demands is advised to contact the nearest police station immediately.
