The Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2 crossed ₹420 crore worldwide in its first weekend, surpassing the earlier record held by Coolie.
Jailer 2, starring superstar Rajinikanth, has achieved a landmark worldwide gross of over ₹420 crore in its first weekend, according to recent box‑office reports. The film’s domestic earnings alone accounted for more than ₹200 crore, while overseas markets contributed the remaining amount.
On its fourth day of release, Jailer 2 added an additional ₹30 crore globally, bringing the cumulative total to ₹420 crore. This figure eclipses the previous record held by the 1970 classic Coolie, which had amassed ₹415 crore worldwide.
The success underscores Rajinikanth’s enduring appeal across generations and highlights the growing demand for high‑budget Tamil cinema on the international stage. Industry analysts predict that the film could continue to climb, potentially reaching the ₹500 crore mark by the end of its theatrical run.
Distributors and exhibitors are already preparing for extended screenings, while the production team hints at a possible sequel if the film’s momentum persists.
