The Jagraon municipal council halted payments for water‑pipe work after discovering an unauthorised road excavation near Mata Chintpurni Temple Road, citing lack of tender and permission.
The municipal council of Jagraon, Punjab, has flagged a stretch of road near Mata Chintpurni Temple Road that was excavated without any tender or apparent governmental permission.
Council officials said the work appears to have been carried out by a contractor who bypassed the standard procurement process, raising concerns over safety, accountability and the misuse of public funds.
In response, the council announced that the contractor will be liable to compensate the municipality for the unauthorised excavation and that all pending payments for water‑pipe supplies linked to the project have been frozen until the issue is resolved.
Council representatives emphasized that such violations undermine public trust and warned that strict action will be taken against any party found breaching regulations.
