Jabalpur Tax Officer Manish Kumar Jain’s Assets Exceed Income by Rs 3.94 crore, Lokayukta Probe Ongoing

Lokayukta officials have found that Commercial Tax Officer Manish Kumar Jain holds assets worth more than Rs 3.94 crore beyond his declared income. A raid team is now scrutinising his bank accounts, lockers and the holdings of his relatives to trace the source of the excess.
Lokayukta investigators in Madhya Pradesh have disclosed that Commercial Tax Officer Manish Kumar Jain, posted in Jabalpur, possesses assets that exceed his reported income by more than Rs 3.94 crore. The discrepancy was uncovered during a routine audit of the officer's financial disclosures.
Following the initial finding, a specialised raid team entered Jain's residence and workplace, seizing documents and securing access to his bank accounts and safety lockers. The team is also extending the probe to the financial holdings of his immediate family members to determine whether the excess wealth stems from legitimate sources.
Authorities have stated that the investigation will focus on tracing the origin of the undisclosed assets, including any possible links to illicit transactions or misuse of official position. Should the inquiry confirm wrongdoing, the officer could face disciplinary action under the state's anti-corruption statutes.
