The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced new financial and support incentives under the national startup policy aimed specifically at women and student founders.
New Delhi – The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued a set of incentives targeting women and student entrepreneurs under the existing startup policy. The measures include seed funding, tax rebates, and access to government‑run incubators designed to lower entry barriers for these groups.
The ministry said the incentives aim to boost participation of under‑represented founders in the technology sector and to foster innovation-driven enterprises across the country. Eligible startups will be able to apply through the Startup India portal, where they can receive up to INR 5 million in seed capital and a three‑year tax holiday on profits.
Industry analysts view the move as an effort to align India’s startup ecosystem with the government’s broader goal of creating 100,000 new jobs by 2025. The policy also promises mentorship programmes and priority access to government procurement contracts for qualifying women‑led and student‑led ventures.
Implementation details will be released in the coming weeks, and the ministry has invited interested applicants to submit proposals before the end of the quarter.
