ISRO’s meteorological satellite captured the development of a fresh low‑pressure system in the Bay of Bengal a few days after Cyclone Arnab weakened and moved away.

The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) meteorological satellite recorded a new low‑pressure system consolidating over the Bay of Bengal within days of Cyclone Arnab’s dissipation. The satellite’s infrared and microwave sensors detected organized cloud bands and rising convection, indicating the early stages of a potential weather disturbance.

Meteorologists at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the system is still weak but could intensify if favorable sea‑surface temperatures and low wind shear persist. They are monitoring the feature closely to assess any threat to coastal states such as Odisha and West Bengal.

The observation underscores the role of space‑based assets in providing real‑time data for early warning. ISRO continues to share satellite imagery with the IMD, enabling forecasters to track post‑cyclone developments and issue timely advisories to the public.

No immediate alerts have been issued, but authorities advise fishermen and coastal residents to stay alert as the system evolves.
