An ISRO weather satellite has identified a developing rain system over central India, indicating that the monsoon remains active across the region.

An Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) meteorological satellite observed a low‑pressure area forming over the central part of the country, signalling a fresh bout of rainfall as the summer monsoon persists.
The system, detected by the satellite’s infrared and microwave sensors, is expected to bring moderate to heavy showers to states such as Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of Maharashtra over the next 48 hours.
Meteorological officials said the development aligns with the seasonal forecast that predicts continued monsoon activity in the heartland, which is crucial for agricultural sowing and water reservoirs.
Residents in the affected zones have been advised to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy downpours, and follow updates from the India Meteorological Department.
The observation underscores ISRO’s role in providing real‑time data that helps authorities issue timely warnings and manage the monsoon’s impact on the nation’s economy and livelihoods.
