Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched the NVS-03 navigation satellite, marking a significant upgrade to the country’s autonomous positioning system.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched the NVS-03 satellite, a key component of India’s next‑generation navigation system. The satellite was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on a PSLV vehicle, following a smooth ascent and deployment into its intended orbit.

NVS-03 is designed to provide precise positioning, navigation, and timing services for civilian and defense applications. The addition of this satellite enhances the accuracy and reliability of India’s navigation infrastructure, reducing dependence on foreign systems.

The launch is part of ISRO’s broader effort to develop an indigenous navigation network that can support military operations, maritime surveillance, and critical infrastructure management. Officials noted that the new satellite will improve situational awareness for armed forces and support national security objectives.

ISRO’s launch team highlighted the technical readiness of the satellite’s payload and the robustness of the launch vehicle. The successful deployment underscores India’s growing capabilities in space technology and its commitment to self-reliance in defense-related navigation.

The NVS-03 launch is expected to be followed by additional satellites in the coming years, further strengthening India’s autonomous navigation network and contributing to the country’s strategic autonomy.
