The Institute of South Asian Studies at NUS has published a paper titled “India‑United States Relations: The Rubio Reboot,” analysing the next phase of the bilateral partnership.

Singapore’s Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) at the National University of Singapore has unveiled a new research paper called “India‑United States Relations: The Rubio Reboot.” The study examines recent shifts in diplomatic, economic and security ties between New Delhi and Washington, highlighting areas where cooperation can be expanded.

According to the report, the term “Rubio Reboot” refers to a strategic reset inspired by former U.S. Senator Marco Rubio’s advocacy for a more coordinated Indo‑Pacific policy. The authors argue that both nations stand to benefit from deeper alignment on supply‑chain resilience, technology standards and climate‑change initiatives.

ISAS researchers stress that while the partnership has grown stronger over the past decade, challenges remain in trade imbalances and differing approaches to regional security. The paper concludes with policy recommendations aimed at sustaining momentum and addressing friction points.

The publication is part of ISAS’s broader effort to provide scholarly insight into South Asian geopolitics and is expected to inform policymakers, academics and think‑tanks in both countries.
