Iran's energy ministry reported the identification of a new gas field containing approximately 7,500 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
Tehran's Ministry of Petroleum announced the discovery of a previously unknown gas reservoir in the country's southern basin. Preliminary surveys estimate the field's reserves at around 7,500 billion cubic feet of natural gas, a volume that could boost Iran's domestic supply and export potential.
The find was made during routine seismic mapping and exploratory drilling carried out by the National Iranian Oil Company. Officials said the field will undergo further appraisal to confirm its commercial viability and to plan infrastructure for extraction.
If developed, the new gas field could help Iran meet its growing energy demand, reduce reliance on imports, and strengthen its position in the regional gas market, especially as global energy prices remain volatile.
