India Today reports that the Indian Premier League’s 2027 player auction is slated for December 16 and will be conducted in the state of Goa.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has earmarked December 16 as the date for the 2027 player auction, with Goa confirmed as the host state, according to a report by India Today. The auction, a key event in the league’s calendar, determines the composition of franchise squads for the 2027 season. Organisers have not disclosed the exact venue within Goa, but the decision aligns with the league’s practice of rotating auction locations across the country.
The December 16 auction will bring together franchise owners, team coaches, and player representatives to negotiate contracts and set salaries for the upcoming season. As per the league’s standard procedure, the auction will be conducted under the supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and will be streamed live for fans worldwide.
Stakeholders anticipate that holding the auction in Goa could boost local tourism and provide a scenic backdrop for the high‑profile event. Further details on the auction format, player pool, and broadcasting schedule are expected to be released in the weeks leading up to the date.
