Nepal's authorities have opened an inquiry into the Darul Uloom Al‑Safa madrasa in Sunsari district, seeking documents on its registration, operation licence, staff and student records, and finances.

The administration of Nepal’s Sunsari district has placed the Darul Uloom Al‑Safa madrasa under formal investigation. Located close to the India‑Nepal border, the institution’s legal status and operational compliance are now being examined by officials.

Investigators have asked the madrasa to produce paperwork covering its registration with local authorities, the licence permitting it to run educational activities, detailed lists of teachers and enrolled students, as well as records of its financial transactions.

One of the focal points of the probe is the claim that a substantial number of Indian nationals are studying at the madrasa. Nepalese officials say they will verify the authenticity of these figures before drawing any conclusions.

The inquiry reflects broader concerns about cross‑border educational institutions and the need for transparent oversight to prevent irregularities in funding and enrollment.
