The Asifabad unit of the Indian National Congress is embroiled in a dispute after the appointment of Athram Suguna as district Congress committee chief.
The Indian National Congress’s Asifabad district unit has fallen into an internal dispute following the appointment of Athram Suguna as its district Congress committee (DCC) chief.
Suguna’s elevation was announced by the state party leadership, but a faction of local leaders has expressed strong opposition, citing concerns over his leadership style and alleged lack of grassroots experience.
The disagreement has raised questions about the unity of the party’s local organization ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, with some members warning that the split could weaken the Congress’s electoral prospects in the region.
