A radio‑collared male tiger was discovered injured in Muraina district of Madhya Pradesh, prompting worries over the protection of wildlife in the nearby Kuno reserve.
Earlier this week forest officials in Muraina district, Madhya Pradesh, located a male tiger fitted with a radio collar that was severely injured. The animal was found on a forest road near the Kuno wildlife sanctuary and was immediately reported to the state wildlife department.
Veterinarians from the department arrived at the site and assessed the tiger's condition, describing it as critical. The tiger was immobilised and transported to a wildlife rescue centre for emergency treatment, though its chances of survival remain uncertain.
The incident has sparked renewed scrutiny of the protective measures in place around the Kuno reserve, where the tiger was likely moving between habitats. Conservationists argue that inadequate monitoring and human‑wildlife conflict mitigation may have contributed to the animal's injury.
State officials have pledged a thorough review of the existing security protocols and have announced plans to strengthen anti‑poaching patrols and improve the tracking infrastructure for collared wildlife in the region.
