Indore police have registered a case after a young woman allegedly deceived the manager of a jewelry shop on MG Road by offering to make promotional Instagram reels. The woman reportedly convinced the manager to hand over cash, claiming it was needed for the reel production.
According to the FIR, the manager handed over a total of ten lakh rupees, which the woman pocketed and subsequently disappeared from the premises. Shop staff discovered the loss shortly after the transaction and alerted authorities.
Investigators have begun tracing the suspect’s movements and are reviewing CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding area. The police have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the accused.
The incident highlights growing concerns over social‑media‑based frauds targeting small business owners in urban centres. Authorities have warned merchants to verify the credentials of individuals offering marketing services before releasing funds.
