Municipal and police authorities demolished 8‑10 illegal structures near Indore’s Annupurna Temple after a court order, leaving the stall‑holders without any source of income.

Following a court directive, the Indore Municipal Corporation, together with police officials, carried out a large‑scale demolition in the vicinity of the city’s famed Annupurna Temple. Authorities razed between eight and ten structures that were identified as illegal houses and shops.
The operation displaced several families who had been running small stalls selling puja items to temple visitors. Those affected say the demolition has completely eliminated their source of earnings, plunging them into financial distress.
Local vendors highlighted that the loss of these modest businesses has broken the economic backbone of their households, with no immediate alternative employment in sight.
The municipal body has not released details on any compensation or rehabilitation measures for the displaced traders.
The incident underscores the tension between urban regulation enforcement and the livelihood of informal sector workers in densely populated religious precincts.
