A central stretch of Indore's Chhawani Road, closed for six months due to construction, will be opened to traffic before the Diwali celebrations.
Indore municipal authorities have announced that a central segment of Chhawani Road, which has been closed for half a year for construction work, will be opened to vehicular traffic before the upcoming Diwali festival. The decision aims to ease the expected surge in commuter movement as the city prepares for the holiday season.
The road, a key arterial route in the city, was shut in January for widening and resurfacing works. Officials say the construction is now complete enough to allow safe passage on the middle stretch, while final finishing touches continue on the remaining sections.
Traffic police will deploy additional personnel at the reopening point to manage flow and ensure compliance with speed limits. Motorists are advised to follow posted signs and exercise caution as the newly opened segment integrates with ongoing works.
The move is expected to provide relief to commuters traveling to markets, temples and residential areas that experience heightened activity during Diwali. The municipal corporation will monitor the situation and may adjust timings based on traffic response.
