Indore to Host Grand Procession on Sept 25 Featuring Over 22 Floats Celebrating 103-Year Tradition

On September 25, Indore will launch a traditional evening procession at 6 p.m., showcasing more than 22 decorated floats that depict mythological tales and social themes such as de‑addiction and women’s empowerment.
Indore’s municipal authorities announced that the city’s long‑standing procession will begin at 6 p.m. on September 25, marking the continuation of a 103‑year‑old tradition that draws crowds every year. The event, organized under the auspices of the local cultural committee, is scheduled to run through the Anant Chaturdashi night, concluding after the final float passes the main city square.
The parade will open with the Khajurana Ganesh float, a revered symbol that traditionally leads the convoy. Following it, more than twenty‑two elaborately crafted floats—referred to locally as “jhankis”—will move along the designated route, each illuminated and adorned with intricate artwork.
While many of the floats portray scenes from Hindu mythology, the organizers have deliberately incorporated contemporary social messages. Themes such as de‑addiction campaigns and the empowerment of women are woven into the visual narratives, aiming to blend cultural heritage with current societal concerns.
City officials expect a large turnout, noting that the procession not only reinforces religious devotion but also serves as a platform for community awareness. Security and crowd‑management measures have been put in place to ensure a safe and orderly celebration for residents and visitors alike.
