The Indore Development Authority has been tasked with constructing a new bridge parallel to the existing Shastri Bridge, a project slated for 1.5 years before the old bridge is dismantled to make way for a railway station.
The Indore Development Authority (IDA) has been given responsibility for building a new bridge that will run alongside the existing Shastri Bridge in the city. The initiative is part of a phased plan to upgrade railway infrastructure while maintaining traffic flow.
According to the project schedule, the new structure is expected to be completed within eighteen months. Once the parallel bridge is operational, the older Shastri Bridge will be demolished, clearing space for a new railway station that will serve the growing commuter demand.
Officials say the sequential approach will minimise disruption for road users and ensure that the railway station can be constructed on a solid foundation once the old bridge is removed. The development is seen as a significant step toward improving Indore’s connectivity and urban transport network.
