The State Tiger Strike Force, posing as buyers, trapped a turtle smuggling operation in Indore, arresting two suspects and seizing more than 30 turtles of various species.
Indore police’s specialised State Tiger Strike Force conducted a covert operation by posing as customers interested in illegal turtles. The ruse enabled the team to identify and intercept a group involved in wildlife trafficking.
The operation resulted in the arrest of two young men suspected of handling the smuggling network. Authorities recovered more than thirty turtles belonging to several different species from the suspects' possession.
The seizure underscores the ongoing efforts by Madhya Pradesh authorities to curb illegal wildlife trade, particularly in high‑value species such as turtles, which are protected under national conservation laws.
