Taxi unions in Indore submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner, urging action against roughly 25,000 bike‑taxi operators running without aggregator licences or police verification, and warned of a hunger strike.

Indore’s taxi driver unions handed a formal memorandum to the city’s police commissioner, demanding immediate action against a large fleet of bike‑taxi services that they say are operating illegally. The document cites the presence of approximately 25,000 two‑wheelers that lack the mandatory aggregator licence and have not undergone police verification.

According to the unions, these unlicensed bike‑taxis have been plying the streets of Indore for months, creating unfair competition for registered auto‑rickshaw drivers and raising safety concerns among commuters. The drivers argue that the absence of any regulatory oversight leaves passengers vulnerable and undermines the city’s transport policy.

Facing what they describe as inaction from authorities, the taxi unions warned they will commence a hunger strike if the illegal operations are not halted within a short timeframe. They have called on the police and the transport department to enforce existing rules, seize the unregistered vehicles and issue penalties to the operators.

The police commissioner’s office has not yet issued a public response, but the memorandum signals growing pressure on law‑enforcement agencies to address the alleged violation before the protest escalates.
