The Indore Municipal Corporation imposed a ₹2.5 lakh penalty on the Sheraton hotel for storing wet waste in bags instead of composting it.
The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has taken action against the five‑star Sheraton hotel for non‑compliance with municipal waste disposal regulations.
According to the IMC, the hotel was found storing wet kitchen waste in bags and keeping them on the premises instead of diverting it to composting facilities. The practice contravenes the city’s waste segregation and disposal guidelines.
The corporation levied a fine of ₹2.5 lakh and directed the hotel to rectify the waste management system within a stipulated period. The case highlights the growing scrutiny of large hospitality establishments in Indore over environmental compliance.
