The Indore Municipal Corporation will construct a 2.5‑kilometre road costing ₹30 crore to improve access to the City Forest, and a demolition crew cleared illegal structures on Saturday.
The Indore Municipal Corporation announced a plan to lay a 2.5‑kilometre road linking the eastern bypass to the City Forest. The project, budgeted at ₹30 crore, aims to provide a smoother and shorter route for commuters heading to the popular green space.
On Saturday, a municipal removal team moved in to dismantle a series of unauthorized structures that were obstructing the proposed alignment. The gang cleared the encroachments along the designated stretch, clearing the way for construction to begin.
Officials said the new road will not only cut travel time but also reduce traffic congestion on existing arteries. Work is expected to start shortly after the clearance, with completion targeted within the next year, subject to standard regulatory approvals.
