Indore police have arrested a man in Delhi for allegedly defrauding a woman of ₹26 lakh by promising marriage and claiming to be a merchant navy officer seeking funds for cancer treatment.

The Crime Branch of Indore has apprehended Jitendra, a suspect accused of defrauding a woman of a significant sum by falsely promising marriage. The arrest took place at Delhi Airport, following a complaint lodged by the victim.

Authorities revealed that the accused had impersonated a merchant navy officer. He allegedly convinced the woman to transfer ₹26 lakh, claiming the money was needed for the treatment of blood cancer. This deception formed the basis of the fraudulent scheme.

Further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the accused's activities and to ascertain if other individuals have been similarly targeted. The police are working to bring the accused back to Indore for legal proceedings.
