The Indore district administration is arranging for new garbage vehicles and local waste disposal centres to improve sanitation in villages. Over half of the 334 gram panchayats currently lack adequate waste collection vehicles.
Indore city has been recognised as the country's cleanest city, but many surrounding villages still face basic sanitation challenges.
According to district officials, more than half of the 334 gram panchayats in the region do not have sufficient garbage collection vehicles, leading to irregular waste removal.
To address this gap, the administration is planning to procure additional vehicles and set up small waste disposal centres at the panchayat level.
Officials say the initiative aims to bring the villages up to the same cleanliness standards as the city and reduce open dumping of waste.
