The 46‑km stretch of the Indore‑Dahod railway will undergo its CRS final inspection on Oct 28‑29, clearing the way for passenger trains to reach Dhar for the first time since 1947, with four new stations to be added.

The Central Railway’s Indore‑Dahod line, spanning 46 kilometres, is set for its CRS (Commissioner of Railway Safety) final inspection on 28‑29 October. This clearance will open the route for passenger services to reach Dhar, marking the first time a passenger train will operate on this corridor since India’s independence.

Officials said that after the safety clearance, the railway will proceed with operational preparations, including signaling upgrades and crew training, to launch regular passenger trains. The project also includes the construction of four new stations along the line, intended to improve connectivity for intermediate towns.

The development is expected to boost regional travel, facilitate trade, and provide a faster alternative to road transport for residents of Madhya Pradesh’s western districts. Railway authorities have indicated that a timetable for the inaugural passenger service will be announced shortly after the inspection is completed.
