Indore Municipal Corporation has launched a strict campaign to curb water wastage. Mayor Pusyamitra Baghav toured colonies, warned residents that water wastage will be recorded and billed.

Indore, the commercial hub of Madhya Pradesh, has announced a new initiative to tackle excessive water usage. The city’s Municipal Corporation has rolled out a stringent campaign aimed at reducing wastage across residential colonies.

Mayor Pusyamitra Baghav visited several neighbourhoods to brief residents on the new measures. He explained that any instance of water wastage will be captured on video and used as evidence for billing.

The policy will see water meters monitored closely, and households found to be wasting water will receive a formal notice followed by a monetary penalty. The mayor emphasized that the goal is to encourage responsible consumption rather than punitive action.

Local residents have expressed mixed reactions, with some welcoming the effort to conserve resources and others concerned about the enforcement process. The municipal corporation assures that the system will be transparent and fair.

The campaign is part of Indore’s broader sustainability plan, which also includes initiatives to improve waste management and green spaces.
