Himanshu Bhau, the most‑wanted suspect from Rohtak, Haryana, was apprehended by U.S. authorities, ending a cross‑border manhunt.
Himanshu Bhau, identified by Indian law enforcement as the most‑wanted criminal from Rohtak in Haryana, was taken into custody by U.S. authorities earlier this week. The arrest was confirmed by the Economic Times, which cited official sources in both countries.
Bhau has been on India’s top‑most wanted list for a series of violent offences, including organized gang activities and multiple cases of armed intimidation. His capture marks the first successful apprehension of the fugitive outside Indian territory.
According to police statements, members of Bhau’s gang opened fire outside a location associated with social media personality Elvish Yadav shortly before the arrest, prompting a rapid response from local law‑enforcement agencies in the United States.
Indian officials have indicated that extradition proceedings are being initiated, and the case is expected to be reviewed under the existing India‑U.S. legal cooperation framework.
The development is being closely monitored by both nations as it underscores the reach of trans‑national crime networks and the effectiveness of coordinated law‑enforcement efforts.
