The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral part of India and dismissed Pakistan’s objection to remarks made by a US envoy in Srinagar.
New Delhi’s Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement reaffirming that Jammu and Kashmir is an inseparable part of the Indian Union. The communiqué came after Pakistan lodged a formal protest over comments made by a United States diplomatic envoy during a visit to Srinagar.
The US envoy had spoken about the need for peace and stability in the region, remarks that Pakistan interpreted as interference in the Kashmir issue. Islamabad’s foreign ministry sent a note of objection to New Delhi, urging the United States to respect the bilateral nature of the dispute.
India’s MEA dismissed the Pakistani protest, emphasizing that any external commentary does not alter India’s constitutional position on J&K. The ministry also reiterated that diplomatic engagements with foreign representatives are conducted in accordance with India’s sovereign policies.
No further diplomatic exchanges were reported at the time of writing, and both sides appear to be maintaining their respective stances on the matter.
